My name tag was inspired by Bauhaus art and the work of Moholy-Nagy. I like the and cleanness of simple geometric shapes and lines and basic color scheme. I sketched out some concepts for possible designs based on some examples I drew from after doing a Google search. I ended up embellishing on the second concept. The first one felt too busy and the last one seemed less bauhaus and more cubist.

For my name tag, I wanted to combine the rectangles and lines with a human or organic image such as the woman in the Das Tanzerpaar photograph.

To add a more personal element to the nametag, I took a picture of myself in profile view and outlined my silhouette. Like the photograph the outline vector obscures my actual face but is also a representation of it. This piece along with the red and green rectangle ended up being my 3d cutout pieces.

I prototyped the nametag on cardboard first using a snap fit base and some rectangle 3d elements. The lines were to be etched into the nametag itself.
When it came to making the final draft, I decided to etch the lines as planned, use half vinyl stickers for 2 of the rectangles and acrylic for the other two which I glued on. The face was a semi circle connected to a rectangle with the profile etched out.
