In our second assignment, we were supposed to copy something and add some robotics element to it. My room mate likes candles a lot so I decided to replace one of her candles with a rubber and led candle and later on surprise her. This is the candle which I decided to copy.

First, I made a mould by heating the plastic sheet in oven and placing it on the candle stand. This is how the mould looks. I decided to put a hollow egg like shape in the mould so I can get cylinder like shape of candle stand.

So first I put led in the hollow egg and poured transparent polymer liquid (as a replacement of wax)in it and left it to dry overnight. This is how it looks. Then I placed it in the mould upside down and poured polymer liquid with red colour mixed in it.

However, when I took it out the next day, the red colour had seeped below my wax egg and everything was a bug red candle. Plus my led had broken.However, I decided to make use of it as it was. Drilled a hole through the candle. Inserted an led in it. Covered the hole with some more polymer and made the candle looked like a melting candle. Then I wrote a code in gogo board which lit the led whenever a hand comes close to the the candle. Here is my final product: A rubber and led candle.
