When we first started working with the polymer casting material, it reminded me of a lot of the cases for phones, the iPhone in particular. When I then heard that phones (probably) do well as subjects for vacuum forming, I decided to make a phone. My original plan was to make a mold from my iPhone using the vacuum form, then cast around a printed (or laser-etched, or something) "screen" with static images. But where was the interactivity there?…

... and not the phone kind. Or should I say "kinetic sculpture", since that's the artsier term for what I made. I was inspired not by a specific artist, although there are plenty of modern artists creating in the space, like the one below inspired by Alexander Calder.
